        This article is the result of socio-juridical research with a qualitative approach and critical social methodology, which incorporated some elements of participatory research, which led to the intersection of collective action and juridical action, propose as a problem and result the lessons learned for promote the justice of the right to food for communities in vulnerable situation from the analysis of agency capacity, participation and political and legal empowerment of women head of family from the municipality of Manizales.

        In the first place, the local environments and dynamics of the women heads of family of the municipality of Manizales are described, in agency key and participation in the defense of the right to food, in second place the practices and forms of organization are identified as strategies of agency, In the third place, the state interventions that have been carried out in these communities are identified to find the lessons learned to promote justiciability of the right to food. Finally, it is concluded that the state intervention supported by public policies that unfold the regulations, achieves processes of empowerment in women heads of family, processes that require greater coverage and strengthening of participation.
